In this one day workshop, students will work to weave a beautiful handled basket, perfect for gathering summer berries. Students will learn to construct a traditional basket with a circular base and a simple pegged handle. We will cover basic willow weaving techniques: pairing, three rod wale, French randing and a simple trac border, and we’ll learn a fun central/eastern European stake up! Participants can expect to finish the class with a beautiful and sturdy basket measuring approximately 7″ dia x 6″ H without the handle.
This course is available to all participants, no prior basket or weaving experience necessary. Willow can be a challenge to work with, and physically engaging, this class may be difficult for a person with hand issues. This class includes a short lunch break.
