When you make this useful oval basket you will learn many basic wicker techniques. Students will learn how to split spokes and chase weave an oval base. After adding side spokes the basket will be upsett with 3-rod wale. The side of your basket can be accented with dyed material in a 3-rod arrow weave. The basket is completed with a traditional rolled border and a roped overhead handle. This basket is perfect for holding an arrangement for your table, your favorite bread, or my use – gathering my chicken’s eggs.

Materials supplied:  Cane, dyed and natural round reed

Tools needed: Awl, 10 – 12 clip clothespins, tape measure, scissors, diagonal cutting pliers, pencil, spray bottle
