The basket is a mixture of round and flat oval reed with cotton cord accents. Students will learn how to go from a square base to a round basket without a cathead. Techniques include 3 rod-wale, the ridge weave, and the Japanese diamond weave. Extra spokes will be added as the basket is woven and the rim is triple lashed with cord. The instructor will bring kits in several colors for the basket and bring a variety of cotton cord for students to select their accent color. Most students should finish in class, but slower weavers may need to finish up on their own.

The instructor will contact each student about color choices. Most students should finish in class, but slower weavers may need to finish up on their own.
Materials supplied: Natural and dyed round and flat oval reed. Waxed cotton cord.
Tools needed: Usual basket tools including spoke weight, packers, angle cutters, needle nose pliers, scrapers, and clips.
