Prerequisites: It would be helpful to have woven with flat reed and have rimmed a basket but a beginner can make this.
Make a basket that you can use to hold a casserole or other food for the holidays. You will learn to make a plain weave base, weave up the sides using start-stop weaving, add Shaker tape handles and rim the basket. You will have a choice of colors for the stripe.
Materials supplied: Flat reed, dyed reed for the stripe, Shaker tape for the handles, flat oval reed for the rim, sea grass for rim filler, cable ties and a few clothes pins.
Tools needed: Pencil, sturdy scissors, measuring tape, container for soaking reed, clothes pins and a scraper for thinning rims
