This basket begins with an oak slotted base that students will insert spokes into, following a template. The sides begin with three-rod wale with a step-up. The main design is the Japanese diamond pattern, which participants will learn. It is done in round and flat oval reed.
Materials supplied: Oak oval slotted base 3.5″ x 6.5″, dyed #2 round reed, 7 mm & 3/8″ natural flat oval reed, 1/4″ & 3/16″ natural flat reed, and sea grass.
Tools needed: Scissors, angle cutters, packers, needle nose pliers, clothes pins, spray bottle, scraper, & measuring tape.
