You’ve seen them, right? The big porch rockers, sad, with no seat? Learn the basics of weaving the New England Porch Weave on a stool. You will have a gorgeous natural material (reed) stool and a new skill. If you’re adventurous, you can become a chair nerd and start saving sad chairs and restore them to their former glory! Most students will complete their stool in class, if not, they will have the information to finish on their own.
This project is easier to complete standing up, though it can be done sitting down. Your hands will be frequently in the water.
Tools Needed: Clippers (or strong scissors), desk stapler, water bucket, butter knife
Materials Provided: Stool kit (assembly required), 7mm flat oval reed, PDF instructions
This zoom class will be recorded and can be used 3 ways: to follow and weave in real time, to watch and try to follow along and finish later, or to watch and weave at another time using the recording and utilize the stop/start/rewind/forward functions at your own pace. Most people finish in the 2 hour time period.
