A fully closed bottom makes this basket not only sturdy but will keep all items inside. Woven into the sides are smooth leather handles. Round and flat reeds dyed in Marine Blue, Biscayne Bay, Hunter Green, Wine, Oak and Dark Walnut,  Black Hamburg cane lashing, gives this basket a pleasing flow of colors. Four rod wale and proper way to line up and square the base are some of the learned skills included in this basket.

When you make this useful oval basket you will learn many basic wicker techniques. Students will learn how to split spokes and chase weave an oval base. After adding side spokes the basket will be upsett with 3-rod wale. The side of your basket can be accented with dyed material in a 3-rod arrow weave. The basket is completed with a traditional rolled border and a roped overhead handle. This basket is perfect for holding an arrangement for your table, your favorite bread, or my use - gathering my chicken’s eggs.

Materials supplied:  Cane, dyed and natural round reed

A little different start on this rib basket. Drilled holes in the 10” hoop allow for the ribs to attach to the hoop, then continue on into the basket frame. Made with round and flat reeds, with additional dyed reed inserts of dark green and dark brown to accent the side weaving. Shape is stressed in class to obtain the classic potato basket shape. Beaded dangles hanging on one side will be done in class. Beads shape and sizes subject to availability.

This small basket packs a big punch. It begins with a 3/3 twill base with occasional 1 or 5's thrown in. The sides are a mixture of 2/2 twill with some 1 and 3's. The basket is mostly woven in 3mm flat oval reed dyed 4 colors. Participants will get both written and chart directions for the base. The sides are written directions. The rim and rim filler are dyed reed and the basket is lashed with waxed linen.  Slower weavers may need to finish after class.

Materials supplied: 3 mm flat oval reed natural and dyed 3 color, 11/64" flat oval dyed, 1/4" half round dyed, #4 round reed dyed.

Tools needed: Scissors, angle cutters, one or two spoke weights, water, towel, spray bottle, small packer, needle nose pliers, small and large clips, scraper and cutting board, and measuring tape.

Students will make yarn with their own old t-shirts and a basket base with clothesline. Then they will learn different patterns possible with the twining technique and how to make a rim to finish the basket. Students should bring at least two t-shirts or other jersey tops in contrasting colors. You are encouraged to share your yarn to have a variety of colors.

Materials supplied: Clothesline, Printed directions, Plastic sewing clips, Plastic yarn needles, Extra T-shirts/garments

Tools needed: Old t-shirts or other jersey garments (at least two, preferably in different, complimentary colors. More are better!),Sharp fabric scissors
IF YOU ALREADY HAVE (no need to go out and buy):  Rotary cutter, Large fabric cutting mat, 18-24” grid ruler

There is enough room in this little rocker for a small boy or girl along with a teddy bear or dolly. Built very sturdy to hold a young one. Rocks smooth and has security rockers that help prevent rocking too hard. Choose to weave a twill or a checkerboard in the seat. You will learn two weaves on this project, one on the top side and one weave on the under side. Rocker comes stained, sealed and ready to weave.

You can almost smell the woods when you weave this basket! This miniature Adirondack backpack is woven with black ash spokes and cedar bark weavers. Students will learn how to cut spokes to help produce the traditional shape. Your basket is completed with a black ash handle and lashing, elm bark rims and pre-made leather straps with a metal buckle.

Materials supplied: Black ash, cedar bark, elm bark, leather straps and metal buckle.

Tools needed: Awl, tape measure, scissors, diagonal cutting pliers, pencil, spray bottle, small clips

Sometimes a plain jane basket just needs a bit of dressing up. Learn how to wrap a handle or hoop and create various designs in it including corn rows and the butterfly knot.

Materials supplied: Either a round or square 12" oak handle, flat oval natural reed, 3MM flat oval dyed reed, 5/8" flat dyed reed.

Tools needed: Needle nose pliers, scissors, angle cutter, spray bottle, towel, clips, small and large packers, and water bucket.

Starting with a 2" wood base, students will start with 3 rod twining and continue with a continuous twill over dyed stakes. Using the Oui jar as a mold, sides finish with more 3 rod twining. A simple folded stake rim completes the basket. Jar lids have mandala designs. Stakes will be coordinated to colors in Design, 4 Designs.

Materials supplied: OUI jar, base, all weaving material glue and pattern
